There is a PBS film presentation, Parrot Confidential, that is worth taking time to watch. It will both break your heart and fill your heart with joy. Access a link to the film and a video conversation with the filmmaker at the National Bird Day website.
I treasure having had the opportunity to see these magnificent birds in their wild habitat in Central America. So, have a box of tissues handy while you grab a steaming cup of Costa Rican organic shade-grown coffee (I get mine from Café Cristina) and watch.

Thanks for the ping-back!
You have such a nice blog …. refreshingly honest.
Says a lot of the things we all feel.
Thanks for sharing!
I will check that program later since I will be spending a lot of time indoors in the next few cold days. Our little birds are snarfing up the seed at a high rate.
Thanks for the post.
A beautiful scene out my window with all the desired natives co-operating at the snow-covered feeders…gold finches, juncos, chickadees, downy and red-bellied woodpeckers, red-breasted nuthatches, house finches. Starlings that plagued me during the last week are gone. I think the snow is so deep that the squirrels are staying in their nests like their human counterparts today.
Enjoy the film when you get the chance, Jim.
We also had that active scene. Then, I saw a Cooper land in the top of a nearby tree. All small bird activity froze in place until it left. Seen that many times. Funny.
Commented to my husband just yesterday, “You know. We have not seen a hawk around here so far this season. They must have all gone west to Iowa.” 😉
We do have plenty. Thanks for sending them. They must have plenty to eat.
