Roosters

Black-Capped Chickadee

Ha!  You thought this was going to be about chickens.  Right?

No, no chickens here.

I’m just going to give you a quick report about the chickadee nest box I hung out on Valentine’s Day.

I haven’t had any sightings.  I mean, I have not seen any chickadees or other birds go near the box.  That doesn’t mean they haven’t.  It just means that for sure I haven’t spied any.

But every weekend I go and monitor the box.  I look inside to see if I can detect any activity.

This past Sunday it appeared as though the birch bark lining the bottom of the floor had been tamped down in the center.

I think with the cold weather we’ve been having the birds are roosting in the nest box at night.

So perhaps my black-capped chickadees (or maybe some red-breasted nuthatches) have turned into ROOSTERS.

I’ll keep you abreast.
