Little Robin Red Breast sat upon a tree.

Do you remember the nursery rhyme lyrics of Little Robin Red Breast?  It’s a traditional English rhyme that teaches children about natural enemies…birds and pussy cats.

American Robin (Turdus migratorius)

I thought about that rhyme when I saw four American Robins dining in my lawn this afternoon, and only this morning did I spot the neighbor’s cat out for a Sunday walk around my feeders.

I did see a lonely Robin in the neighborhood a couple of weeks ago.  But these are the first in my habitat this season.

I better make sure there’s fresh water in the bird bath.  Not being seed and suet eaters, Robins won’t be joining the crew at my feeder station, but they love to splash in the tub!

I wonder when I will hear them starting to sing.
